MOTHERLand is a game concept crafted by myself and the members of Team Kilo.
Crafting an adventure game pitch.
We were given source material to build our game around, which was the fantastic Autodale animated series by David James Armsby, and challenged to make a game concept based on the “Model Citizen” episode. The project was a competition with other teams on who could craft the most interesting pitch. I was confident early on that most people would resort to placing players in the shoes of one of the residents of Autodale, so I suggested we instead went the route of controlling one of the robots. With this direction, we were able to craft a very interesting pitch and, while we didn’t win the contest, our instructor personally voted for us in our feedback. My responsibilities in the project included Team Leader, Voiceover and Video Production, Writing and Level Design.
Reflecting on this project, I found it incredibly rewarding to be able to work with talented people to create this idea. I was humbled to have been voted as team leader early on and I believe I did well in pulling the best out of my team to create a engaging product. It helped my continue to hone on my organization and time management skills, as well as develop my world building and narrative skills. I couldn’t have asked for a better team in completing the concept for MOTHERLand.
